Official Wayne County records must come from the office that keeps them. Court cases route to the Clerk of Superior Court in Goldsboro. Sheriff arrest reports begin at Sheriff administration, while current custody and booking questions belong with the Detention Center. Police reports remain with the agency that created them. Fingerprint-supported statewide self-review goes through the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. The contacts below separate those channels so a request does not land at the wrong counter.

Choose the custodian by record type. Wayne County's general administrative request form does not accept criminal or civil court requests.

  • Statewide fingerprint self-review: use the North Carolina SBI Right to Review process. It is subject-only, mail-based, and requires a ten-print card with the published $14 fee.
  • Expunction filings: file the current North Carolina form with the clerk in the county of the case. Wayne County matters route to the Walnut Street courthouse.

The clerk keeps the official Wayne County court record. Sheriff administration handles Sheriff-origin reports, while detention staff answer booking and custody questions. A city police report should go to that police department, not to the courthouse or the county's general Public Affairs form.
