About Wayne County Criminal History

Wayne County records do not sit in one Goldsboro office. Court files belong to the Clerk of Superior Court, arrest and custody records remain with the Sheriff or arresting police agency, fingerprint-supported history is maintained by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, corrections records come from NCDAC, and registry data appears through the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. This private resource organizes those official paths so readers can identify the correct custodian, request method, and source.

Why We Built This Site

Public access in North Carolina depends on the record and the office that created it. A Wayne County detention booking is not the same document as a District or Superior Court case, and neither is identical to an SBI Right to Review. The county's general request form even redirects criminal and civil court requests to the clerk. This site brings the official portals, local contacts, published fees, and request steps into one county-focused reference. The goal is practical routing, especially when a searcher must move among the Walnut Street courthouse, Chestnut Street Sheriff administration, and Stronach Avenue detention entrance.

What You Will Find Here

The site's record pages focus on the sources Wayne County and North Carolina agencies actually maintain.

  • Record access: methods for a Wayne County court case lookup, including eCourts and the clerk
  • Official self-review: the SBI Right to Review fingerprint process and its limits
  • Local routing: Wayne County Sheriff, Detention Center, police, court, and state-agency contacts
  • Record relief: North Carolina expunction terminology and the clerk-based filing path

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately operated reference site with no affiliation to Wayne County, the North Carolina Judicial Branch, the SBI, NCDAC, or any police department. Its role has firm limits.

  • It cannot retrieve or issue an official criminal record
  • It cannot submit an expunction petition or public-record request for a reader
  • It cannot provide a certified court copy or SBI criminal-history result
  • It cannot offer legal advice about a Wayne County charge or case
  • It cannot promise that an agency's hours, fee, or contact detail has not changed

Only the Wayne County office or North Carolina agency that maintains a record can supply its official copy. Confirm details with that custodian.

Search Partners

Search boxes on some pages are supplied by third-party providers. Those providers control their own results, terms, and prices. A referral may produce revenue when a visitor follows a tool to a paid service, which helps support access to this free reference. Wayne County Criminal History does not set those charges and does not control the information returned by a partner.
